The dialogue between client
and architect is about as intimate as any conversation you can have,
because when you are talking about building a house, you're talking
about dreams.

Thomas
R. Tuttle, AIBD
Thomas
Tuttle is currently vice president of the Connecticut chapter and a professional
member of the AIBD (American Institute of Building Design) and numerous
other trade organizations in the design/construction field.
Growing up in a real estate management family and as a descendant of
Frederick Law Olmsted, Tom developed a deep love of design and construction
early on. He majored in architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology
and started his career in New York City, designing brownstone and loft
renovations/conversions-experience that honed his ability to utilize every
available cubic inch. Founding his first company, Linear Dynamics, Inc.,
in 1971, Tom and his (then) partner began buying New York townhouses to
renovate for resale--also an invaluable learning experience. Among numerous
other unique commercial projects, he was commissioned to design two high-profile
sound studios, a daycare playground for the City of New York, and several
discotheques. Moving to Connecticut in 1973, Tom established his second
company, Re-Innovations, Ltd., in New York in 1974, specializing in single-family
homes. Later, he moved the company's offices to Connecticut and devoted
himself exclusively to Fairfield County-based projects. In 1978, during
the second oil price run-up, Tom pioneered the design of several state-of-the-art
active and passive solar homes.
Tom and his company were featured on the home improvement TV show "Renovations,"
depicting a remodeling project in progress. Additionally, he authored
'construction tip' articles for several local publications.
Tom was one of the original "founding fathers" of the Connecticut
chapter of the American Institute of Building Design and was subsequently
elected Vice President for seven straight years. He has represented numerous
clients before Zoning Boards of Appeals and environmental protection boards,
with a 100% winning record. Tom has also been called upon as an expert
witness in construction litigation, for both defendants and plaintiffs.
In his "off time," Tom judged two architectural design competitions
and taught several CEU credit seminars, and also served as a mentor to
local middle-schoolers.
